Family Fun Things to do at West Edmonton Mall

Looking for fun things to do with the family at West Edmonton Mall? We’ve got you covered with the ultimate list of exciting things to experience.

Things to do:
  • Galaxyland (Powered by Hasbro) – 27+ rides and attractions, including rides, ninja climbing aerial park, arcade, interactive life-size games like Simon Says, Quirks in the Works, ride-on motorized animal themed track, bumper cars, climb & slide play park (you can access this younger-kid play area either with a day pass or separately pay for day-use of just this space), laser mission game, rock climbing and more!
  • World Waterpark – 17+ slides, world’s largest indoor wave pool, hot tubs, spray-play area, kids climbing structure, indoor zip-line, concession and so much more in the perfect 31 degree tropical atmosphere. Pro tip: you can ask to buy a zip-line only ticket if you’d like to experience this on its own without buying a day pass for the waterpark.
  • Ice Palace – Full-size NHL-regulation skating rink for public skating and events. (Always check the website for public skate times and cool upcoming events happening here)
  • Professor WEM’s Adventure Golf – 18-hole themed mini-golf course.
  • Dragon’s Tale Blacklight Mini-Golf – Glow-in-the-dark mini-golf experience – and in the same space – a mirror maze
  • Sea Life Caverns – Underground aquarium with 100+ species of marine life.
  • Sea Lion Shows – Daily educational and entertaining shows with trained sea lions. (Check the website for showtimes)
  • Ed’s Bowling – Ten-pin bowling for all ages (ask for lane bumpers for smaller kids), billiards, arcade games, alien escape room and karaoke rooms

  • Splatterverse – Paint-splatter art experience (located inside DRIVE)
  • VR Infinity Experiences – Immersive virtual reality adventures including a kid & family friendly “Horizon of Khufu” where a digital npc character guides your group through the Egyptian pyramids and beyond – as well as “Space Explorers” – a more mature, informative VR exploration of NASA missions and space. Tickets need to be purchased online.
  • The Rec Room – Arcade games, virtual reality, bowling, sport simulator, table games, interactive climbing wall, food and more.
  • Jubilations Junior Dinner Theatre – Interactive themed shows with a meal, geared toward families – these are shorter than regular dinner theatres, more upbeat and built around characters kids already love. They always have a comedy element and it’s fun for the whole family – check the website for themes (they change regularly) and show times; it’s best to buy tickets in advance.
  • Theme rooms at the Fantasyland Hotel – Stay in unique themed suites like space, pirate, or underwater – located inside of the Mall itself – even if you’re local to Edmonton, this can add a fun element to a family stay-cation. Some rooms have jacuzzis and a stay at the hotel typically comes with perks like deals on attractions – check the Fantasyland website or give them a call for current offers for families – book in advance for the best price.
  • Movie Theatre (Scotiabank Theatre) – Watch the latest releases on the big screen. Enjoy arcade games and a variety of food choices before heading in to your movie. Buy tickets in advance online to pre-choose the best seats & guarantee your showtime.
  • The Ship – Climb aboard and check out the famous WEM ship for $2 a person or book 1.5 hour board game sessions with friends. The Ship can also be rented out for private events. See the website for details / contact info
  • Birds of Paradise Paddle Boats – Paddle around the indoor lake close to the replica Santa Maria ship.
  • Eat on Bourbon Street – Indoor “street” lined with restaurants featuring global cuisines.
  • Lots of snack choices – From gourmet treats to classic fast food, you’ll find tons of snack and meal options throughout the mall. Our favorites include: Mr Halal Burger and Choco n Dip – both located outside of Galaxyland, close to Guest Services.

Always check the website for operating hours and availability of each attraction before heading out & whatever you decide to do, have a great time!
