Apple season is winding down, and local farms are wrapping up their 2026 apple harvest. With this year’s weather conditions affecting some crops, U-Pick availability can change quickly.
We checked with a few farms near Edmonton to find out where families may still be able to pick apples as the season comes to an end.

🍏 Kids’ Apple Press
This weekend, September 19–20, an apple press will be available for kids to use to press a small number of apples.
There is no extra cost to use the apple press.
Families are encouraged to bring a couple of empty water bottles to take some of the fresh juice home.
The orchard expects September 27 to be the last day of U-Pick for the 2026 season, although hours may be reduced that weekend depending on apple availability.

🍎 Prairie Gardens
Approximately 45 minutes north of Edmonton

The 2026 apple U-Pick season is coming to an end. According to the September 17, 2026 crop update, Prairie Gardens expects to still have some apples available for picking on September 19–20, including:
- Dolgo
- Dexter Jackson
- Prairie Sensation
- Norkent
Some apples may be harder to reach, but apple pickers are available for use.
⚠️ Important: U-Pick apples will be available on a first come, first pick basis. Depending on how many apples are picked on Saturday, there may or may not be apples available on Sunday.

🍏 Apple Cider & Food Preservation Experiences
As the apple harvest comes to an end, there are also ways to make use of extra apples before they go to waste.
Operation Fruit Rescue Edmonton organizes community events focused on rescuing local fruit and learning about food preservation. Their apple cider events give participants an opportunity to help press apples and turn them into fresh juice and cider.
