Red Deer’s famous Alpine Roller Coaster will open for it’s second year at the Canyon Ski Resort on the long weekend of May, 2023.
Where: Canyon Ski Resort & Recreation Area – 38433, Range Rd 264A
When:
- Opening date for the 2023 season: Saturday, May 20
- May & June operational days – Friday to Sunday (and on stat holidays)
- July & August – Open daily!
- Last day for the 2023 Season: Monday, September 4
What to expect:
- Monorail track nearly 1.4 km long
- Coaster will start at the top of the canyon and go down toward the Red Deer river
- Riders choose the speed – from a slow pace up to 40km/hour
- At the end, riders will remain seated and will be pulled back up the river valley via a t-bar lift
- Younger kids can be doubled with a parent; kids as young as 8 years old (and at least 4’1) can ride on their own
- Parking area for the Alpine Coaster will have a ticket concession, food and beverage area and washrooms
- Tickets/time slots do tend to sell out on weekends and during peak times, so they do advise purchasing your tickets online beforehand
Bonus: You can add a passenger to your ride at a discounted price.
- You must be a minimum of 16 years of age to ride with a passenger in the cart
- Passengers must be 3 to 12 years old and a minimum of 3′ 2″ tall
- Passengers must be no taller than the driver’s shoulders.
